Abstract:   (5235 Views)

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate cephalomericaly, the effects of the two piece function corrector (open bite type) on the maxillo-mandibular relationship and dentoalveolar structures in a sample of skeletal class II open bite patients.

Method & Materials: It was a semi-experimental study. The sample consisted of 21 subjects, (mean age of 8-9 years) treated for an average period of 1 year. The study was carried out on lateral head films. 18 linear and angular cephalometric measurements were evaluated before and after treatment.

Results: Treatment resulted in a decrease in ANB of 1.7O and an increase in total mandibular length of 5.5mm. Buccal segment relationships, overjet and overbite were corrected during treatment.

Conclusion: In general, the magnitude and direction of skeletal and dental changes were found to be quite favorable.
