Aim: The aim of this study is to measure anti-HBs titers in vaccinated dental students to assess the efficacy of Hepatitis B vaccine and relating factors.

Method & Material: This descriptive study was accomplished by questionnaires and serologic tests. The questionnaire included demographic information, medical history, drug history, quality and quantity and time of vaccination. After completion the questionnaires, 150 eligible Blood samples were tested for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBs Ag), Hepatitis B core antibody (anti-HBc), and both qualitive and quantitive Hepatitis B surface antibody (anti- HBs) by ELISA. Seven participants who tested positive for both anti-HBc and HBsAg excluded from the study and the remaining 143 volunteers were analyzed. The status of anti- HBs titers (Negative: anti-HBs titers<10 MIU/ml, good responders: 10100 MIU/ml) evaluated with age, sex, number of vaccine doses and the time of last vaccination. Finally collected data analysed by Logistic Regression models. Results: Study results showed that there was no statistical significance between status of anti-HBs titers and age, sex, number of vaccine doses and the time of last vaccinatioin.

Conclusion: %97.2 of the participants of this study was positive for anti- HBs marker, %18.2 of them was good responders and %79 was high responders. We recommend the good responders (10≤anti - HBs titers≤100 MIU/ml) especially high-risk groups, adminstration of booster vaccination.
