Background & Aim: In clinical treatments we need to treat some cases such as open apexes, root resorptions, DPC, root end surgery and perforations. Previous studies shows that MTA is a best material for treating these cases. But for this reason that most imported from other countries. It’s very expensive. Recently iranian similar with name of Root MTA is produced in Tabriz University. Purpose of this study is evaluated of the rat subcutaneous connective tissue to the implanted polyethylene tube filled with Proroot versus Root MTA.

Method & Materials: Experimental materials were implanted in animal subcutaneous and one hollow tube is implanted for control group in each rat. Animal is sacrificed in 3 groups: after 3 and 7 and 30 days and enblock specimens remove and evaluted in point of view: inflamation grads, presence of giant cells, fibrous capsula and type of inflamation.

Results: The results show that biocompatiblity of (Proroot) is better than (Root MTA) but there was no statistical significant diffrences between them.

Conclusion: Considering close features of root MTA and MTA (Proroot) provided that other tests are confirmed, Root MTA may be a suitable substitution for MTA. Beheshti Univ. Dent. J. 2004 Special Issue, Iran Center for Dental Research:601-613
