“Economy of resistance” as the cornerstone of “sustainable development”

In the present situation, which is characterized by the instant changes in economic, cultural and political aspects, the need for taking steps towards sustainable development is felt more than ever. Industrial and economic vulnerability in our country, based on historical evidence, is attributed to the lack of scientific research infrastructures. Not paying enough attention to the mentioned subjects for years has resulted in failing to achieve the elements required for steady progress and continuous advancements. The greatest value added can be achieved by effort, use of advanced technology and increased productivity. Clearly, selling crude products (from crude oil to crude minerals) is an immature act. In this regard, education is a safe investment for the future which should be accompanied by research and innovation. What is noteworthy in establishing the cornerstone of sustainable development is the efficacy of aforementioned research projects, commercializing them and implicating the resultant technologies in the society in order to promote public health (which is a concern for medical field professionals).

In this process, comprehensive scientific road map as a strategic guideline for scientific development in general and health system road map in particular, can enhance the orientation of scientific research infrastructure and sustainable development. By employing the mentioned road maps, National Macro-projects can support research projects and knowledge-based companies can also benefit in the process. Macro- projects play a significant role in unity of different activities in the field of research and knowledge-based companies play the main role in achieving economy of resistance. Authors can help in this respect by publishing accredited articles which per se will impact on continuous development and will be a step forward towards achieving the economy of resistance.

Last but not least, I would like to express my gratification for publication of articles (Full Text) in both Farsi (Persian) and English started from the previous issue (Spring 2012). As the first Iranian bilingual dental journal, The Journal of Dental School (Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences) pioneered in bilingual publication of manuscripts and since then many other dental and medical journals have started to follow this path. I hope that this act will promote further global distribution of knowledge.
